(Independent
KLF0704-001)
... and Oh
what a Labour of Love it was! Dedicated to the memory of my lovely old
friend Keith Blinman, who thought I sang like Patsy Cline - not exactly
true, but indeed a great compliment! - this Album took 4 years to make.
Why 4 years, you ask? Well, it started out as a humble demo tape and then
just grew ... and grew ... and grew! And me being the stubborn Aries perfectionist
that I am, decided that it was better to take more time, do it right and
make an impression. This is no 'cheap and nasty'. This album is a beauty!
It's sweet and fresh and has a kind timelessness about it ... one of those
albums that never dates and it's by no means your 'average' country music
album.
If
I'd had the funds I would have made three albums, each representing the
three main music genres that I loved - Country, Folk and Bluegrass. Knowing
this wasn't possible, I therefore set out to make the the album a delicate
blend of all of this music that is so close to my heart. There are 16
tracks on the album, 3 of which are originals - one being the award winning
"Grandma Used to say", which charted very well on both the Australian
National Country Music Chart and the Nashville "International Country
Music Association" Chart. Apart from a few contemporary Country Music
songs, the majority of the songs are sweet sounding ballads reminiscent
of Emmy Lou Harris, Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss. There are a couple
of Bluegrass style songs showcasing some great Aussie pickers and some
specifically Australian folk songs - including a haunting version of the
very sad Henry Lawson poem "Water Lilly". One of my greatest
influences has always been Ralph Mctell and therefore I felt my version
of "Streets of London" deserved a place on this most special
album.
Anyway, don't listen to me! - judge for yourself by checking out the song
samples and if you'd like to get a copy for your personal collection

guarantee you won't be sorry!
