Grandma
Used To Say
(Karen Lynne Frencham, Heather Field, James Gillard)
Sitting
in a pepper tree, dreaming I could fly
Calling out to Grandma "Hey look Im up real high"
She said "You take care now,"
"You may be higher than us all"
"But the highest people got the farthest down to fall"
Well
I was just a small girl, playing in a tree
But how true and wise was that advice
Grandma gave to me.
Grandma
used to say "Child theres just no easy way"
"And in life no matter who you are,
It's what you do not what you say"
I've found hidden there, a gift beyond compare.
In all the words, that Grandma used to say
Sitting
in the kitchen, just turned seventeen
Saying "Grandma he's so wonderful, it's like I'm in a dream"
She said "You take care now, cause when you wake up from that
sleep,
He might be jut another wolf, dressed up like a sheep"
But I was just a girl in love, who didn't want to see
How true and wise was that advice, Grandma gave to me.
Sitting
by her bedside, trying not to cry
Saying "Grandma you're not really old"
"Grandma please don't die"
You said "You take care now,
though the road may twist and bend
Every journey started is a journey that must end."
Well I was just a woman, afraid to let things be
And how true and wise was that advice
Grandma gave to me.
